Talent Search
Talent Search is federally funded by a TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education and sponsored by Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority. The primary purpose is to identify qualified students with potential for education at the postsecondary level, and encourage students to complete high school and enroll and complete a program of postsecondary education.
Talent Search helps to prepare you for college or technical school after high school by providing the following services;
- Career Planning/Exploration
- Study skills (time management, note taking, test taking, etc.),
- ACT Preparation
- Counseling services (personal, career & social),
- Choosing and completing postsecondary applications (colleges, universities, technical schools, etc.),
- Financial aid information and assistance with completing the FAFSA for Seniors,
- Cultural field trips,
- College visits,
- Tutorial services
- Financial Literacy
- Mentoring
All of our services are free of charge; however, the program requires a completed application in order to serve a student. A completed application will give the staff information to verify the student’s eligibility but does not guarantee admission to the program. We request personal information which is kept confidential and is not shared with anyone else other than Talent Search staff and for reporting purposes to the U.S. Department of Education. This information will assist staff in helping students plan for postsecondary education.
